Roles & Responsibilities

In WGD, leadership is a function, not a reward. Roles shift to match intent, and every Ghost is cross-trained to fly, fight, patch, or command.

Command Roles

CO — Commanding Officer — Sets strategic intent, allocates resources, represents WGD to <insert org here>. Final authority on doctrine, risk, and deployment.

XO — Executive Officer — Translates strategy into operations. Oversees readiness, logistics, training cadence, records, and liaison reporting.

Team Lead — Controls tactics and tempo for a cell. Issues intent-based orders, enforces comms brevity, and may invoke Emergency EXFIL under criteria.

Operator Roles

Ghost (Operator) — Cross-trained operator. Executes with autonomy inside intent. Maintains quarterly currency and contributes to AARs and doctrine refinement.

Specter (Medic/Engineer) — Support specialist. Leads damage control, triage, repairs, and sustainment. Advises Team Lead on abort criteria and asset health.

Role Layers & Formations

Shipboard Layers: Scout (recon/sensors), Interceptor (isolation/cut-off), Gunship (suppression), Support (shields/repairs/med).

Ground / CQB Roles: Point (first-in, sector clear), Cover (suppression/area denial), Rear/Comms (timers, reports, EXFIL coord), Specter (triage/repairs).

Standard Entry: Breach → Clear → Secure → Hold. Casualty protocol: triage → MOVE/HOLD → MED Evac under cover.

Cell Templates

Overwatch Pair (2) — Observer/Spotter + Sniper/Interdictor (stealth recon, target designation).

Specter Team (3) — Team Lead + Pilot/DOM + Operator (Shooter/Tech) — agile interdiction and rapid EXFIL.

Wraith Cell (5) — Team Lead + Ship Commander + Sniper/Observer + Gunner/Support + Specter (Med/Eng) — full mission profile.

Authority & Emergency EXFIL

Invocation: Any Team Lead may call Emergency EXFIL if casualties ≥ 50%, critical systems are breached, or command comms fail for > 120s after retransmit.

Call Format: “Ghost Actual, invoking Emergency EXFIL — [reason].” XO coordinates rally points; CO resumes command on link. AAR due within 12 hours.

Leadership Development Ladder

Path: Ghost Candidate → Ghost (Probation Complete) → Section Lead (3 successful ops + peer endorsement) → Team Lead (evaluation + CO/XO approval) → XO Candidate (at CO/<insert org here> liaison discretion).

Requirements: No promotion without a recorded leadership AAR and two endorsements from active operators.

Standards & Currency

Comms Discipline: Brevity enforced during execution windows; nonessential chatter suspended.

Checklists: Mandatory for pre-op, damage control, and emergency procedures.

Quarterly Currency (per Ghost): ≥ 1 flight/combat simulation, ≥ 1 CQB drill, ≥ 1 hybrid operation.
